I was wondering about Oktava microphones, specifically the MC012 with an M1/M3 capsule or an MC219. They are astoundingly cheap, and I've read lots of good things about them. Any opinions of these or other large-diaphragm Oktava condensers?
Note: I definitely agree that no microphone can adequately compensate for a lousy vocal performance (or a lousy voice). I try to always remember that the sound BEFORE it hits the microphone is just as important (MORE important, actually) than everything that happens to it afterward. $100,000,000 worth of vintage valve mics and other gear could not make Roseanne sound good.........
