You need to give some more information if possible. How far away are you from the microphone when you are singing into it. The mic and mixer should give you plenty of gain without noise before going into the computer. Do you have another medium such as a DAT you can record onto. If so see what it sounds like going into the DAT. If it okay there, then maybe there is an impedance or other cable mismatch problem between your mixer and computer. In other words it may not be a mic or preamp problem at all
