Weakest link in the chain.Any quality mic pre you sink money into, is going to be offset by the output of your mixer.
Good mic pre is a subjective quality.
It's not just based on gain and noise level ...although that helps.If you want to see the difference in something like this, Presonus has a little box with a tube pre that's pretty inexpensive, and it has a S/PDIF out. So you can bypass the Roland altoghter and start judging pre's cheaply.
