Thanks for your advice! Perhaps you (or somebody else reading this) could help me evaluate how good the mic pre's are on my "mixer". My mixer is actually a Roland VS-840. What I do is feed my mic into the roland, use it as a mic-pre, and an A/D converter. I then send the digital signal out over SPDIF to my soundcard which has a digital input.
I would imagine the A/D converter in the Roland VS840 is decent, but how good are the mic pre's?
I've emailed Roland Canada to ask, but I don't know whether to expect an honest answer.
