Re: Load Your Rear

I use the term "sub" loosely, as do many old sound techs, referring to any dedicated LF component in a three-way (or more) pro audio system; inaccurate, but common. Anyway, my best guess about our mystery box is that the driver is loaded on some kind of short horn, with high efficiency in a certain frequency range (like 60-80Hz, for the kick drum) being the point of the design. This caught my attention in the first place because I'm sure that I've encountered a similar design in the distant past, so I thought some residual knowledge would be "out there" somewhere. As I recall, the wave off the rear of the driver was first restricted through a smaller opening, then expanded again before leaving an over-sized "vent". Sorry, that's all I remember, but I sure appreciate you guys taking a crack at it! P.S. "Just curious" sums it up nicely!
