This unit (if you're referring to the NAC-118) isn't truly a subwoofer at all. It's flat to 50hz with claimed extension down to 45hz. It's just an LF bin. A true sub needs to get under 30hz flat, IMO. As for the driver alignment, can't really tell until you see what's going on behind that 18. I guess mostly all boxes could be considered "rear-loaded", since the rear of the driver is usually "loaded" with a sealed or vented volume of air. It's kind of a generic term they're using to make their product sound fancy...Are you contemplating a purchase of this sort? What would the application be? Terrorizing the neighbors? Just curious!
