I don't have long leads on my 8024 but I do use it unbalanced w/consumer gear and haven't had any noise problem- Id' try the unbalanced option on the TRS outputs and see if that's any better than the XLR conversion.I don't have experience with the 2496; I'd go the the Behringer site first and download the manual to see what it has for interfacing- I think it has only XLR and digital. The output level is probably adjustable anyway.
