When you say "many" high spl pro-sound drivers, are you excluding the JBL 2226h from that statement. I've seen quite a few people using this driver for sub duties, mostly in bass reflex boxes, tuned between 35hz and 45hz. Is this even a good candidate for such a purpose?
I was of the thinking a large(15",18" or bigger)pro-sound driver was the way to go for sub duties, as you have a large diameter cone moving much less excursion wise, than say a long-throw 8" for any given input at any given frequency. I thought this cut down on distortion, power compression etc significantly. But then I'm not hugely experienced in this area, so if it's otherwise, do tell.
Are there any large format pro-sound drivers you would reccomend for sub duties, if you'd reccomend this way of doing things at all?
