Re: you mean the BSS DPR 901?

I've used the BSS DPR901 II on voice for live applications, and it's been quite effective...definitely more subtle and more flexible than a stock de-esser and/or a stock compressor.

As to why it doesn't show up in more studio racks, I would guess the reasons are multifold:

- the BSS brand is much better known in the live sound industry.
- the DPR 901 II is a seriously sophisticated device with a somewhat quirky user interface; it will quickly intimidate any but the most professional engineers, so it's not likely to appeal to bedroom project studio owners.
- it doesn't do much that you couldn't achieve by cobbling together several compressor/expanders w/ sidechains & a couple equalizers, stuff that the well-equipped pro studio already has in their racks.
