The Lexicon looks like a nice product (good company too). The LynxOne is a digital and analog (D/A, A/D, D/D) I/O card, i.e. it has no effects built-in.If you want what I consider the dream machine in effects and I/O cards take a look at the Creamware Pulsar II (6 SHARC DSPs) or their SCOPE board (15 DSPs and multiple boards capabilities). I own a Pulsar and it's a great product for many applications (effects, EQs, synths, etc). http://www.creamware.com
Some programs (like some DVD MPEG decoders) require the MMX (multimedia) extensions only available AFAIK in the Intel Pentium line. According to this page the MII does http://www.cyrix.com/products/miibrief.htm
Try it anyway. If it doesn't work you can always upgrade to the latest PIII (or P4) and more memory (REALLY cheap right now). :-)
