No...not going out of biz, I turn down 70 % of the offered projects and keep my competition happy too.I am just against letting someone with a 200 dollar program, and one set of speakers, try to do the work, then you waste time and money.
AActually, the level of noise on some of the Disney work, would not pass my ear, and they are using decent mastering facilities, but not like Bernie grundman, with his short wire, simplicity approach.
Of course, not everyone can fork out 16 grand to have their CD mastered. Shoot for a 3000 dollar job, make sure they have at least 10 sets of speakers, and that they let you be there during the process. Peak levels of +3 are the norm. Compression to -12 is about the standard for pop.
