The phase shift of the RIAA curve cancels-out the phase shift of the non-equalized vinyl..... The end result is near-perfect phase response, as long as the post-EQ response is flat.Now this does *not* account for any non-linearities caused by a setup that does not optimize playback, nor does it account to FR anomalies in the cartridge, which would introduce phase shifts as well.
