FWIW I have moved on from "computers" to an Ipad as a source. Can always unplug it from the wall and just use batteries.If by "computer" you mean general purpose Win or Mac based PC, I agree entirely. I use tiny Linux based streamers with music specific operating systems. Frequently use a battery source for the RPi3 in the garage. :)
No streaming so no wifi, etc. Just audio.
My collection would not fit on the iPad. It's used solely as controller. Both inter and intranet sources originate with the NAS based media server and connect to the music and video devices via the network.
