FWIW I have moved on from "computers" to an Ipad as a source. Can always unplug it from the wall and just use batteries. No streaming so no wifi, etc. Just audio.
If by "computer" you mean general purpose Win or Mac based PC, I agree entirely. I use tiny Linux based streamer with music specific operating systems. Frequently use a battery source for the RPi3 in the garage. :)
My iPad is used solely as controller.
