In either case it doesn't look like you have your audio being directed thru the D10. In Audio MIDI Setup, right-click on the D10 which should display a choice that says, "Use This Device for Sound Output". Choose it.
Did that work?
P.S. An additional thought that came to mind. Most DACs would use the USB, Coax, and Optical ports as Inputs. I believe the Topping can have its Optical ports used as an Output turning the DAC into a USB to Optical converter. What I don't know is whether that's how the Topping works by default of if there's a menu setting within the Topping to configure it. You might need to look into that.
