We (a couple of audiophile fellows) compared a highly modded (special clocks etc) DMP-A6 to my RPi5 setup with Innomaker DAC Pro ($60) and also my Gustard DAC a couple of weeks back in France at a friends friend place...
We also tried several other DACs attached to both devices.

The next day the host of that session ordered a RPi5! Not sure how far he got with that solution. He's been running pCP and not my own OS.

What happened? Even my Innomaker HAT solution wasn't sounding really bad against the AMP-6. Running the same USB DACs on both machines was proving my RPi solution performing better - soundwise. I mean - all participants agreed on that one.
The AMP-6 wasn't sounding bad. Without listening to that alternative solution
you could have lived with that device. Attaching my stuff showed however cleaner and more dynamic performance, lower bass and more details, more 3D - you know the drill.

Anyhow. Here's my conclusion.

Is such a device worth it? It depends. For those who don't want to get too deep
into the DIY domain and look for a fast track to decent streaming sound. Why not!?!? If you got the $$$$, you'll get quite far in minutes.

However. I am not a fan of All-In-One-Solutions.
The vast majority of features you usually won't need. The features you'd
like to get might never arrive. And after a couple of years you wonder what to do with that outdated software and HW. Yep, there's still major progress possible in the audiophile streaming area.
I'd for myself try to stay as flexible as possible instead of going All-In-One.


One great thing that came with that session over in France: That session finally showed where I am with my own setup. I left that location with a big smile in my face.
