RE: A new setup for streaming

If the internet is included in your rent, lease, or owner's association I wonder if the internet is shared with others in your community or if it's your own. ?? You would probably need to find out what equipment is needed or if it will be provided to you. I'd prefer to have my own internet not shared with others if that is possible.

When my father (RIP) moved to a retirement community (assisted living in his case) we learned that his room was wired for cable by the facility builder and the CableTV company. It was up to each resident if they wanted internet in their rooms. If they did, they needed to contact the CableTV company and they were billed for it in the mail.

Dad called the cable company and they came out and set him up with Cable TV, internet + Wifi in his room. This included new equipment installation and setup. That's probably your best bet if you prefer not messing around with it yourself. His rented internet hardware was a combo Cable Modem + Wifi Router. It also had a couple Ethernet ports on the back in addition to the wireless Wifi.

P.S. If the Cable Modem / Wifi Router has fewer Ethernet ports than you need it is super simple to expand it with a $15 - $20 Ethernet switch and some Ethernet cables. Several are available on Amazon.
