The SB isn't a standard sound device in Windows for example. It does not use a sound card, or appear as a sound card to the OS. The downside of this is that you are required to use the SlimServer software to play your music. You can't use a standard player like Foobar or MediaMonkey. The "digital input" of the SB is either ethernet (standard network cable) or wireless (802.11g). It has both a Toslink and RCA S/PDIF digital output. The best way to connect it to a DAC that has a BNC digital input (assuming that you don't want to modify the SB) is to order a cable from bluejeanscable.com. The cable would consist of:1) Canare "75 Ohm" RCA plug at one end (which is not really 75 Ohm, but is specifically made for video use and will work better than an audio RCA plug).
2) Some kind of Belden cable with a 75 Ohm characteristic impedance
3) A 75 Ohm BNC male connector at the other end.
See this page for ordering details. Choose your connectors as RCA/BNC. Belden 1694A looks like a good choice for the cable.
