My experience with the optical 60 feet usb cable is quite similar to yours, and Im not going back either.
I run it from laptop to twinboard dddac.
have also thought about replacing the wallwart supply to the cable
did you just make an output from the dac supply?
are you using the cable from industrial components that I recommended?
what´s the voltage to the cable?
I´ll be doing the same on my new 5 tower dddac that I´m about to start assembling this week.
PS would replacing the wall wart supply to my external maxtor usb harddisk yield the same difference? hmmmm?!?
