Hi Ralph , Cold - its mid winter here , just coming to nice spring day today though.
Your connection of the Driversupply Buss to the Input ..are you refering to the XLR connector ?? As my Input connection is isolated from the chassis . Obviously my " ground connection on the input itself " is connected to the driversupply common buss , but the entire Audio circuit is not connected to the chassis at all . My chassis is EARTHED though , via the IEC socket , so any mains fault can be detected and do its job to provide alternate path for fault current to flow . ( Mandantory here for any metal appliance , unless double insulated )
The method I have must be OK , as I have definately found the noise creator ..its the EH 6SN7's ..as they are directly responsible . I have some other older 6SN7's from Mallard & Radiotron etc that dont create any noise at all , and its a 50hz humm , that would stack up with a Filament supply ripple freq ..not a 100hz from the ripple that can be heard in the driversupply DC stage after rectification ( if filtering is poor ) . Cheers for your assistance , much appreciated .
