Lew,"What have I got wrong?"
You might not have anything wrong, Lew - I may just be ill-informed as to the behavior of the SuperReg. I was under the impression that the HV portion of the SuperReg essentially behaved like a basic 3-terminal regulator, similar to an ST VB-408 (in terms of basic modeling, not performance). It's not like I don't own a pair of SuperRegs.. I should really have studied up on them before shooting off my trap.
An no - when I say 'dual secondaries', that's exactly what I mean. Two seperate HV windings, each capable of approx. 250VAC; not a single, center-tapped 500VAC winding.
Incidentally, where did you get this MP-1 PSU with a center-tapped transformer? Every MP-1 PSU I've ever seen has dual secondaries, and a pair of bridge rectifiers for the +/- HV supply.
