Hi Legendre, most of them are nice , but i talk here about the dysymetry of the halves (not about the sound which is very similar on OTL) : Usual 6080's are hard to match and the difficult i to find average halves that can go on OTLs . I have burned a pair of NOS Gold brand Sylvanias many years ago because of ONE triode had a lower operating point than the other one . Many WA have lower dissymetry . Nowadays , i try to pair "average" on same values , new and used, tubes on tester before using (i have one bias pot only for each rail ) . The average lifespan is similar for all brands (US and European) and remember the first rule : The lower the temp° , the longer the life !!! Second rule : Heat NEW tubes two or three days along (without HV) before listening .
Old US brands are quieter than ECG Philips. cheers ! Pierre
