Hi Lew,Actually, before the MP-1 came along, the way tube preamps interfaced to a low impedance balanced line system was through an output transformer, usually set up to drive 600 ohms. The MP-1 is therefore and OTL balanced line tube preamp. And its OCL also.
The Phono section is around 50db, and really is set up to use the line section as well. IOW, it (and the MP-3) is designed as a stand-alone LP reproducer, which is why we don't offer a phono section otherwise.
