ZERO autoformer suggestion...

0

I notice Luis has been posting to this board again which inspired me to remind/inform ZERO users of a ZERO option originally proposed by Luis at this site.

It involves using the ZEROs in an alternate configuration that has some potential trade-offs. The following configuration can provide significant gains with regards to improved performance in the area of higher resolution. On the speakers I was using at the time (N.E.A.R. 50Me II's) this alternate configuration provided much greater nuance, with a trade-off in the area of bass performance as compared to using the ZEROs in standard 2X configuration. The trade-off was worth it in my opinion, but while talking with Paul Speltz about the trade-off he suggested I try 2 pairs of ZEROs using the alternate 2X configuration on the higher frequency posts and standard 2X on the lower frequency posts.

This set-up not only addressed the issue of bass performance with the alternate 2X configuration, but also had the surprising and much welcomed benefit of even higher resolution across the board.

This was a VERY significant upgrade, and by no means subtle. Another thought it to try 1 pair of ZEROs using multiple leads on the ZEROs to bi-wire the speakers. If anyone else has tried this or the 2 ZERO pair set-up I mentioned I would be interested to hear about your results.

I encourage anyone with ZEROs to try these alternate configurations if you have not already done so. The results might be spectacular as they were in my own case.

Paul, if you happen to read this post, I would also be interested to hear about any feedback any other ZERO users have given you regarding this subject.
