A word about xlr to rca adapters.
My experience is with the P-2 preamp.They work fine on line level components, but not on the phono section.
(I assume it's because it's alraedy a low level signal being generated by the cartridge.) With the adapters, there is an increase in signal loss.
My solution (since I'm not a DIYer) was to purchase a balanced cable for
my SME V tonearm.Mark
