Re: Lowthers in Bass Reflex enclosures

It seems illogical to put Lowthers in a bass reflex box due to the low Xmax they have. Bass reflex drivers move a lot and large distances to make bass. In a single driver system, that'd add doppler shift (distortion) to the highs and mids. Would it be obvious, don't know. However, Lowthers' claim to fame is tight integration (coherency?) from having no xover; forcing the driver to move large distances at low frequencies would partially destroy that smooth, tight sound. Put 'em in a horn so the driver doesn't move much to make bass.
