Home High Efficiency Speaker Asylum

Need speakers that can rock with just one watt? You found da place.

RE: Valencia questions / Help (kinda long)

"1) stiffening the cabinet... what is the best way to achieve this?"

Screw some 2x2s to the inside walls

"2) dampening the horns... where exactly do you put the dynamat?"

Put non-harening modeling clay in hollows of the "lips", the part of the horn that extends past the mounting flange

"3) my crossovers are inside the cabinet which makes them hard to get to.. should I cut a hole in the rear of the cabinet to accommodate the crossover or will that hurt the sound and where should I set the crossovers?"

Don't worry about it, leave them where they are unless you plan working on them.

"4) is it worth re-wiring the crossovers and internals?"

No

"5) Should I replace the old speaker terminals with modern cardas terminals or something?"

No

"6) should I leave the cardboard ports as they are or remove them or stuff them?"

Leave them alone.

The best thing you can do to improve your speakers is to use compensation networks to extend the high frequencies.
