Hi, I just got a set of Valencias..Mine are the older A version 16ohm. Mine also have two cardboard tubes which are used as ports. I have been reading here and elsewhere about potential mods but I have questions about how to achieve these.
1) stiffening the cabinet... what is the best way to achieve this?
2) dampening the horns... where exactly do you put the dynamat?
3) my crossovers are inside the cabinet which makes them hard to get to.. should I cut a hole in the rear of the cabinet to accommodate the crossover or will that hurt the sound and where should I set the crossovers?
4) is it worth re-wiring the crossovers and internals?
5) Should I replace the old speaker terminals with modern cardas terminals or something?
6) should I leave the cardboard ports as they are or remove them or stuff them?
Sorry for the laundry list of questions but your help and experience is much appreciated. By the way they sound pretty darn good as is. If anything they are a bit soft up top but I have not tried playing with the crossover settings yet. Also not that it matters but I am running them on a PP el34 amp of approx 40 w.
