I've never heard reference to the XA9000ES "average" sounding. Quite the opposite as a matter of fact. Perhaps its in the definition of "average". Perhaps "average" is still "stellar" (in both two channel and multi-channel, by the way) when compared to those with the "reputation" (some deserving, others perhaps, deserving not) of sounding stellar.
