I think that if they concentrated on the recording and the mastering,- there'd be no need to move away from the CD format. As we've seen though, - the REAL impetus from the industry is to add draconian, and bad business practice, copy protection to their releases. (This latest round of SOTA universal players are an indication that there's still more to do in digital playback tech).We can only hope that the next few physical products that are produced fail as badly as SACD, Dual disc, and DVD-A, so that the major labels go out of business. We really need to see Capital, MCA, RCA, Sony, and Geffen die...
