I would agree with you on almost all points Christine. I firmly believe that using a computer to take information off of the source media greatly increases the quality of the sound, by decreasing the distortion and jitter involved with all but the best transports (which i have not heard, only talking from inference). it may well be that the quality of the sound may only be dependant on the computer's sound card and not the actual file. but i do think that Sony's Sound Reality technology may well be the only way to experience "better than cd sound" for everyday favorite recordings that will never see an SACD version. computers are lending themselves better and better to music reproduction all the time (mp3s not withstanding) and i hope audiophiles do not sell themselves short by dismissing the computer as a source for great music listening.
