Sony Vaio with DSD technology

I just bought a Vaio laptop with DSD technology--the computer lets you import a CD as WAV files and convert the WAV files into .dsf files, which are in the DSD format. However...there is no real way to PLAY these files on the laptop[!] even though the soundcard supports DSD. Incredulous, I called Sony tech support to inquire about the nature of this discrepancy, and was told that these ".dsf" files may be supported in a future Sony music player--a portable one most likely.

From using the computer a little that I gleaned is that the DSD discs that the computer WILL output now are 24-bit 44.1 kHz format...as to whether these can be converted into standard DVD-A discs, I don't know...probably by a hack, if at all.

Also, the computer will not record in DSD format. And nothing in the help files about a soundcard that will, either (The Endirol soundcards mentioned only support 24-bit 96 kHz).
