See my user comments at link below. These comments are 6 years old but are still relevant and I address the cable length issue. In short, cable length is not the germane issue, its the capacitance of the cable. The lower the capacitance the longer the cable can be. You can use cable 10 feet or more very comfortably if the capacitance is very low. I get more specific in my user comments.
