I do have this to say about DSD mastered CDs. I recently bought a bottom of the line DVD player to use as a transport for my Headroom DAC--and even though the jitter on most of my CDs made the unit unlistenable, the one CD that didn't totally aggravate my ears was a Police DSD remastered CD. I also had the same experience with a Panasonic portable CD player--the only CD that I could listen to at loud volume without discomfort was a Telarc original DSD recording. I believe that DSD recordings/masters are inherently better. I don't know WHY, but it has been my experience.
