I have one that was built in August 2005 (8260), and it's never had that first glitch period! Plays dual discs without a problem, and is one fine redbook player (just about as good as my Jolida, but not quite as smooth). SACD playback is very, very good, and makes my Sony 9000ES like cheap junk! Only complaint is that it reads a tad slow, but at my age everything is slow.
