Thanks. I should probably just buy the service manuals and check out the circuits. I don't recall the toshiba 9200 saying it used parallel dacs in stereo either. however, the schematics for the 9200 clearly show the digital signal feeding 3 dacs per side, the output of which merge and eventually connect to the 2-channel analog outs (as opposed to the right and left channel of the 5.1 analog outs). i was wondering if most dvd players take this same approach.thanks again.
