This is one of the main reasons why so many universal players sound so craptacular. They are nothing but a box of compromises.

I have spoken to a number of the "serious" high-end player makers, and every one of them has said that video-based universal players simply cannot be made without compromises. Several of them have tried, but they all have failed to build an uncompromised universal video player.
