For sonic alone, I would say RCA Living Stereo SACD series is a success. The Mercury SACDs are not as good to these ears and they range from very good to mediocre. The CD layers of some Mercury SACDs sound much better than the SACD layers of the same recordings. By the way, the CD layers of all MLP SACDS are old transfers prepared by Wilma C. Fine in the 1990's for the CD reissue project, and I think she knows what to do with her master tapes. Unfortunately, the current SACD transfer has nothing to do with her and that shows.
