I've had my SCD-1 for over two years, and I have never had an interest in even playing around with the filters. I vaguely know what they do, but I have not listened to them enough to be able to express a preference. I have it set at standard, and I just leave it alone. Something about the idea of employing a filter really bothers me; maybe I feel that I've been trying so hard not to subtract or add anything to the sound that I can't bear to willingly engage a filter. Reluctantly, I find myself actually agreeing with that troglodgyte who grunted out basically the same opinion.
