In Reply to: $35 - $40 not to mention $70 for a Blu-Ray DVD is going to be a very hard sell. posted by Teresa on January 20, 2006 at 02:07:36:
1. Many normal consumers have high def TV screens, only a tiny number have high definition audio systems.2. Any sighted person can easily see the difference between an HD picture and a standard picture. There is no controversy.
The pricing will start out way too high but will eventually adjust. HD disks, as a premium product, will be priced higher than standard disks- how much higher will be determined by the market.
I suspect that if they do things right (that is, don't screw everything up with paranoid copy protection) HD video disks will be very popular.
