If you wait just 2-3 months after a DVD-Video movie release is out you can pick them up new for $9.99 - $12.99. And if you wait 2 years or so you can it get most movies on DVD brand new for $5.00 - $7.99.So they really expect people to fork over $35 - $40 for the same movies with a slightly better picture?
Most people are not willing to fork over and extra $1 - $2 for an SACD over the CD version. Personally I don't think this is going to happen.
Blu-Ray will end up being a smaller niche market than SACD.
