Re: SC3 is not the problem in this application

I have used both the SC2 and SC3 in the SCD-1 without suffering any audible problems. Audiocom stated to me that the coax link on this clock board is intended primarily for video/universal players, which may particularly generate or be sensitive to emissions. For the SCD-1, they recommend a short silver wire soldered to the posts of the coax connector on the clock board. I connected the SC3 to the oscillator pads with 1.5" length of bundled enamel-coated hair-thin silver wire-- which does sound better than 24AWG solid silver wire. I also shielded the digital chips in the area of the clock with ERS paper-- this made no audible difference. I assure you that this clock sounds open, relaxed, and beautifully detailed in the SCD-1/777ES. I would look elsewhere for the problem, and certainly give the CDP at least 100 hrs of break-in before judgment. Provide further details about your upgrade and perhaps I or someone else can make a recommendation.
