Closed back is the only way to go if you need noise isolation but not all closed back designs offer really good isolation - some designs are much better at this than others are. One of the other major things that the best closed back designs seem to do (or at least, they'll do this *differently*) is low bass. Closed headphones often provide deeper, more palpable bass than their open headphone equivalents do. Just remember though, "strong and deep" is not necessarily "clean and refined".
