So which headphones are better and why, between closed-back designs and opern-back designs?
I am wondering as I try else my new el-cheapo Beyerdynamic headphones HD428 and compare them to my old Sennheiser HD600s.
As I was liking the closed back Beyerdynamic headphones over the Sennheisers, I decided to cup my ears on the Sennheisers and decided I liked that better. Then, I got out the tin-foil! It looks bizarre, of course and comes off continually ;-)
So, now I am looking for some quality closed back headphones!
It is music type that is the deciding factor (all other things being equal, let's say). For Jazz and Blues, the closed back designs seem to have the advantage IMO. It's a more immediate and propulsive sound AFAIK.
