I know what you mean about "design critic". I have been holding off on a new pre-pro for a couple years because I don't like the look of what's available that does what I want. Hell, I can't even really see my gear when I'm using it, but still... I also don't particularly like black audio gear, but that's a tough line to hold in North America especially with gear mainly intended for use in a video system these days.
