Question re: Yamaha DVD-S1800BL when playing DVD-Audio/SACD

I just saw a thread on Hi-Rez Highway regarding the Yamaha S1800 and, hearing that this unit is currently such an incredible steal on Amazon at $89, I have a few questions. Thought I would post them here too, as they pertain to DVD-Audio & SACD playback.

Here's what I'm wondering about:

1) I read that when you're playing DVD-Audio discs on the Yamaha, that you DON'T get a display readout which confirms it is actually playing DVD-Audio; so you're not sure if it is playing the DVD-A layer or DTS. Is that true...or will the player's display confirm when it is playing the hi-rez layer?

2) Also, I only have 4 speakers in my set-up (the front-center channel speaker is "missing" in my set-up b/c this is only an audio system w/o home theater). Can I turn the 'front-center' speaker off on this player so that its sound is rerouted to the front left & right speakers?

(This is a feature that the Denon 2910 has. For example, if I listen to the Doors Box Set on DVD-Audio, Jim Morrison's voice is only recorded on the center channel. Since I really don't have a 'center channel speaker,' the Denon successfully reroutes his voice to the other speakers so the vocals aren't lost).

3) Not sure I'm using the correct technical terms, but does the Yamaha keep SACD output thru its RCA connecters on the back as "pure DSD," or is it converted to a non-DSD signal? I think that may be LPCM, not sure.

4) Is the CD tray fairly durable or is it flimsy?

5) Lastly, how does the Yamaha sound on SACDs compared to something like my Sony DVP-NS900V SACD player which flubbed out on me? I was pleased enough with the Sony's sound (I paid approx $500 for it).

I'm seeking a warmer presentation vs. something too edgy, digital, or clinical in its detail retrieval. Am I on the right track by looking at the Yamaha S1800BL? I would be using this for Audio only to play a small number of hi-rez discs in my library.
