I understand those business reasons. Personally, I have no use for the CD. If I'm buying hi-rez (DAD, DVD-A or SACD), I'm buying for the hi-rez content. I have a few DVD-A/CD sets and have not even played the CD with the exception of Neil Young's "Greatest Hits." I listened to the 24/96 DVD-V while a copied the CD to a CD-R for my car so I never even heard the CD. I've done those comparisons in the past (e.g. Chesky CDs vs. DADs) and it is no comparison. If it was something I desparately wanted for the car (and with a car environment other than a very good recording of music I could care less about hi-rez - if I really wanted that I probably could record something 2-channel to a compact flash or secure digital memory card and put it in the card reader of my CR-V - I have a 6 disc changer and another in dash CD player and plenty of home made CD-Rs and when I get in the mood I'll make more. My CD Recorder sits in the tape loop of my pre/pro so copying an SACD or DVD-A over the analog outs to CD is not a big deal and all I have to do is set levels.
