There is a choice that you have to make regarding "sound quality and performance concert video DVD-Vs"...unfortunately, you cannot have both. The format supports PCM at 96 kHz/24-bits but almost no producers use that standard because of bit rate problems and blocking on the video. Instead, the audio is either DTS or Dolby Digital...maybe 48 kHz/24-bit PCM.The Ayre Universal is a really great player for HD Audio titles. As the proprietor of a rather unique audiophile label, I was attracted to your post because you seem to be interested in video and high quality audio. I like to think our releases have both...your can view the music making AND hear the audio in as much fidelity as you want...from 96 kHz/24-bit PCM stereo to fully lossless MLP in 5.1 "Stage" perspective surround.
