SACD, DVD-Audio, DVD-Video and CD (=) 1.2mm thicknessDualDisc (=) 1.5 - 1.6mm thickness and is at and exceeds the maximum tolerance of all players currently made, plus is 20% heavier than all current formats the players were designed to play. You cannot expect current players to be DualDisc compatible as they were designed before DualDisc was invented is it is not possible!
This will be fixed as DualDisc compatible equipment becomes available, I believe the first models will be available by Christmas or Spring of next year at the latest. The new players will handle the 20% heavier DualDiscs and will increase the disc tolerance to 1.8mm or so to account for manufacturing variations. You never design anything to work at the maximumn tolerance it is an invitation to disaster.
