Unfortunately, every single one of the top-notch cards from 1st rate sound card manufacturers can play back only 2-channel stereo sound, as they have been designed strictly for recording and music production, not for entertainment. And the few 5.1-capable sound cards from those manufacturers that are currently on the market are all low-end consumer models which lack hardware-based support of anything (this means everything must go through the PC's main CPU via software emulation due to their lack of an intelligent processor on the sound card).
